Things We Do / Things We Miss

Things we do in Colombia that we do not do at home:

1.     Sweat

2.     Wash clothes in the bathroom sink

3.     Swim for hours daily

4.     Ride in buses or taxis with kids or strollers on our laps

5.     Sleep in a different bed every few days

6.     Pay $4 for a pedicure

7.     Carry all our stuff with us everywhere

8.     Eat papaya and other tropical fruit

9.     Watch soccer games

10.   Get up at 6am

11.   Speak Spanish with everyone

12.   Do nothing but wait

13.   Write blog posts

14.   Spend hours looking for or touring hotel options

15.   Complain too much and recognize our own snobbery

Things we miss from Bellingham (not necessarily in this order):

1.     Solitude

2.     Driving a car

3.     Modern appliances

4.     Whatcom Community College

5.     Feeling Productive

6.     Church

7.     Friends

8.     The Bay and Mt. Baker

9.     Cold weather

10.   Predictable schedules

11.   Reliable Internet connection

12.   Good and easily accessed coffee

13.   Tap water

14.   Cooking whatever we want to

15.   Our backyard
