It has been about one month since we learned that we would
not be able to adopt Agnes or Leszek. Victor and I looked through photos
and information on other kids who are waiting to be adopted shortly after the
news. It is not an easy or enjoyable
process. There are so many children out
there who desperately need loving parents, and it is heart breaking to read one
story after another.
That being said, there
seems to be one set of siblings we have come back to again and again. The brother and sister are also from Poland
(ages 8 and 5 respectively), so we asked our agency to find out whether or not
Poland would approve an adoption by our family.
The good news is that we have been approved. However,
before we move forward, we would like to see the children’s medical histories,
and we are currently waiting to get this information.
In the meantime, we have finished gathering
our thirty-some documents for our home study, and we are now waiting for our
social worker to finish her part. A
finished home study could still be a few weeks away. Assuming there are no
surprises, we hope to be announcing a decision about our adoption sometime in
May.
